Concept chosen for Skra
The sports centre is under development as part of the Pole Mokotowskie Open Park programme
POLAND A design by Weronika Marek, Anna Odulińska and Aleksander Wadas from Gdańsk has won the competition to find a concept for the Skra sports complex at ul. Wawelska 5 in Warsaw.

The team has won PLN 70,000 as well as the right to negotiate with the city of Warsaw. “The jury decided to award the main prize for a design which successfully combined respect for the history of the complex with modern facilities for professional and amateur athletes and rugby players as well as an ingenious recreational programme and sports complex as part of the Pole Mokotowskie open park programme,” reads an announcement by the Warsaw city council.

“I want to stress again that we are ready and we have the funds to return Skra to its former glory for the city’s residents. We want to use next year to finalise the building permit designs, apply for the building permits and draw up the detailed designs, so that we can start modernising the entire centre at the beginning of 2020 (...),” says Renata Kaznowska, one of the deputy mayors of Warsaw. The architectural and urban competition was announced on June 21st. Six designs were entered into the competition.
