Szczecin says no to Orbis

Eurobuild CEE 30 November 2018
POLAND The city of Szczecin has vetoed plans by Orbis to knock down the Ibis Budget hotel and to construct a new hotel with extensive services and an additional residential section.

In the justification for their decision, the council wrote that: “The site is designated for tourist buildings with a large number of parking spaces, while the buildings themselves must be of a low height. The party that is applying for the permit purchased the site with such development conditions and we see no reason to change the designation. Bearing in mind the need for parking spaces and the building density of the neighbourhood for the area under consideration, in the opinion of the Gumieńce estate council such a change would only add to the social and infrastructure problems.”
