Management on a cloud
BIM 360 is not only useful for architects

POLAND Cloud-based systems, such as Autodesk BIM 360 platform, are increasingly being used by Polish companies, regardless of their size, to assist in the management of construction projects.

According to Przemysław Nogaja, the architecture and construction manager of the Autodesk system, a cloud-based platform is better, more efficient and cheaper to use when it comes to processing the relevant information. Research by the Boston Consulting Group indicates that the introduction of such systems can reduce construction costs by 15 pct as well as the time needed for the construction work by 30 pct. Cooperation between the various professions involved in a project becomes more effective and less prone to errors.

Skanska was one of the first companies in Poland to introduce BIM 360, using it to manage the construction of the Green2Day office building in Wrocław, which opened in September. The tool improved the exchange of information as well as the recording of the progress of the work. It provided a continuous analysis of the work and identified unwanted situations when they arose.

“BIM 360 has accelerated the construction work and at the same time ensured that the highest safety standards were maintained. We are now well prepared to digitise our construction sites and manage the data throughout the project’s life cycle,” claims Maciej Smoliński, the BIM coordinator at Skanska.

BIM 360 was designed and launched by Autodesk on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform.
