Warimpex invests more in Airportcity

Rafał Ostrowski has over 17 years’ experience as a journalist. Warimpex invests more in Airportcity
In addition to a four-star Crowne Plaza hotel, three modern office buildings have been built

RUSSIA Warimpex has increased its stake in the Airportcity business complex near the Pulkovo 2 international airport in St Petersburg from 55 to 90 pct.

The company acquired a 35 pct stake in AO Avielen, which is responsible for the development and operations in the complex. The remaining 10 pct in the company is held by UBM Development. The transaction is subject to the approval of the Russian antitrust authorities. “Airport St. Petersburg is an attractive location with tremendous potential for further development. For us, the acquisition of additional shares represents an expansion of our involvement in the development and a clear commitment to the Russian market,” commented Franz Jurkowitsch, the CEO of Warimpex.

In addition to a four-star Crowne Plaza hotel, three modern office buildings with a total leasable space of roughly 31,000 sqm have already been built. The two fully occupied Jupiter 1 and Jupiter 2 towers from the first stage with a gla of app. 16,800 sqm were sold in 2015. The third tower built in the second stage Zeppelin with around 15,600 sqm gla – is also fully occupied. The complex still has development land on which a further 150,000 square metres of office space could be built.
