Poland with over 600 green buildings

Eurobuild CEE 30 May 2019
POLAND According to the fourth ‘Certification of Green Buildings in Numbers’ report published by the Polish Green Building Council (PLGBC), 648 buildings have been certified under BREEAM, DGNB, HQE, LEED and Well in Poland.
In the twelve months from March 2018, the number of certified buildings increased by 29 pct, which compares to the figure for the previous twelve months of 21 pct. The total area of certified buildings is now almost 13.9 mln sqm. The first building to be certified in 2010. Most buildings are certified under BREEAM (almost 74 pct), followed by LEED (23 pct), DGNB (2 pct), Well (1 pct) and HQE (0.8 pct). “As was expected the strengthening of the office, retail and industrial sectors can be clearly seen in the number of certificates. We still have to pick another sector that we believe will catch up with these three over the next few years. In my opinion, apart from just looking at the hotel market, we should be watching the residential closely as well,” say Rafał Schurma, the president of PLGBC
