Government invests another PLN 300 mln in Central Airport
The New Central Polish Airport is to open in 2027
POLAND The government has invested PLN 300 mln in return for newly issued shares in Centralny Port Komunikacyjny [Central Communication Port], which is to develop the New Central Polish Airport near the Village of Stanisławów 40 km south east of Warsaw.

“The government sees the New Central Polish Airport not only as a strategic project for the development of Poland’s economy but also as a good investment,” says Mikołaj Wild, the undersecretary in theTreasury.

CPK applied for funding June 24th. The new shares cannot be sold.

CPK plans to update the studies required for the environmental, location and design decisions for the the high-speed lines between Warsaw the New Central Polish Airport, Łódź, Poznań and Wrocław, work which was suspended in 2011. The company is also looking for an international partner to help in the development of the hub.

CPK is to present its masterplan at the beginning of the year including a detailed plan of the infrastructure to be built and a detailed business plan. One of the big four consultancy firms has already reported that the airport passes the Private Investor Test and does not run afoul of EU law.
