The 24,000 sqm warehouse also serves as a back office for Tamda Foods

CZECH REPUBLIC A warehouse built for Tamda Foods in Segro Logistics Park Prague in Hostivice on the capital’s western outskirts has been awarded a BREEAM certificate with an ‘Excellent’ rating.

The more than 24,000 sqm warehouse that also comprises back offices for an online store is located near the train station in Hostivice, close to the main railway route between Prague and Kladno. Tamda Foods is a Vietnamese cash & carry food company. Around 50 people are employed in the building.

The warehouse has been fitted with LED lighting and also has varying light intensity, all of which generates savings. Furthermore, the white assembly elements and sanitary facilities feature a system for reducing water consumption by 56 pct compared to usual norms. Biodiversity has also been addressed in the form of insect hotels in the green areas for e.g. bumblebees and butterflies.

“BREEAM certification not only confirms the environmental qualities of the building. Other factors that were evaluated include aspects such as facility management, employee comfort and innovation. The facility for Tamda Foods we have built was designed with all those elements in mind,” claims David Plzak, Segro’s development manager in the Czech Republic.
