Mercedes on batteries
The production is scheduled to start in 2020

POLAND Mercedes has constructed the first structural elements for its electric battery production and assembly plant in Jawor near Wrocław.

The total value of the investment comes to EUR 100 mln. The battery plant is to be supplied with electricity from renewable sources with production scheduled to start in 2020. Over 300 people are to eventually be employed and at full capacity the factory should produce 100,000 batteries annually. Daimler is investing more than EUR 1 bln in a global battery production chain, which currently comprises nine plants on three continents. This is the second factory under Mercedes Benz in the town. Later this year the company is to open a conventional engine factory in an investment of around EUR 500 mln.
