Equilis matched in Andrychów
Retail & leisureThe building permit for the retail project is to be issued by the end of the year, but the leasing process is already underway. The list of tenants includes Leroy Merlin, brands from the LPP group, Martes Sport, Media Expert and Rossmann. Equilis, which was founded in Belgium in 2006, now also wants to invest not only in retail in Poland, but also in other types of assets, as it does on other markets.
The centre in Andrychów – a town with 20,000 inhabitants in Małopolska – will have a total area of 26,000 sqm. According to the company, Galeria Andrychów is designed to be a ‘power centre’, offering a full complement of shops and services as well as a large DIY store and 650 parking spaces, with convenient links to the rest of the town and the wider region. It will also have a drive-thru restaurant and a petrol station.
This is the second project to be carried out jointly by Equilis and Acteeum, having previously partnered up for Galeria Chełm, which is already 95 pct leased prior to its opening in Q1 2020.
“We are excited about joining forces with Acteeum again. After such a positive experience, it’s obvious that we have an appetite for more. Both of our approaches to the development of retail buildings complement each other perfectly, by exemplifying the benefits of international experience, a knowledge of Polish realities, competence and creative enthusiasm, as well as guaranteeing the success of the ventures undertaken. We are convinced that our project in Andrychów will the latest success story that adds new quality to the retail market in Poland,” insisted Monika Woźniak-Zawioła, the general director of Equilis in Poland.
“In addition to all the features typical of a successful shopping centre, our new project in Andrychów will also serve as a community forming role. We want it not only to be a place for convenient and attractive shopping but also one that fulfils the expectations and lifestyle aspirations of local residents. We want it – in just over a year – to become a place that offers various leisure options that people will identify with,” explained Tomasz Szewczyk, the managing partner of Acteeum Central Europe.
Along with retail, Equilis also develops residential buildings, offices, revitalisations, homes for the elderly, student halls, entertainment centres, cultural and public centres and car parks. It has so far completed a total of 271,000 sqm of commercial buildings and 832 residential units, while it has another 215,000 sqm of leasable space and 2,004 apartments currently under construction or preparation. Acteeum is headquartered in Santpoort-Zuid in the Netherlands and registered in the Channel Islands.
