More P+R car parks near Warsaw
The P+R car park next to Warsaw Jeziorki station will have spaces for 138 cars and 40 bicycles

POLAND More than 350 car parking spaces and more than 240 for bicycles are to be provided in new Park-and-Ride car parks in Warsaw and on the outskirts of the city – in Piaseczno, Wołomin and Radzymin.

The local authorities of these boroughs have secured more than PLN 8.3 mln in EU funds under the Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) programme for these projects.

“The availability of modern Park-and-Ride car parks in Warsaw’s satellite towns will also clearly benefit the city itself, since providing their residents with the option of leaving their in secure car parks at transport hubs will limit the number of cars entering Warsaw,” explains Warsaw mayor Rafał Trzaskowski.

Free parking will be available to commuters with a public transport ticket or local carrier ticket. All the P+R car parks will be uniformly marked so that residents can distinguish them from other (illegal or private) ones.

The Warsaw car park is to be located near ul. Karczunkowska, on the railway line to Radom and Warszawa Jeziorki station. It will have a capacity for a minimum 138 vehicles (including six disabled spaces), a minimum 40 spaces for bicycles and two chargers for electric cars. The EU funding for this project totals almost PLN 3.5 mln.

The P+R car park in Wołomin district will be located on ul. Parkowa in Lipinki, near the Zagościniec railway station – the final station in Warsaw’s second public transport ticket zone. A total of 73 car parking spaces (including three disabled spaces) and 25 for cyclists. More than PLN 2 mln of EU funds have been made available for this project.

In Piaseczno, the P+R car park, which will be built on ul. Towarowa, will have 83 car parking spaces (including three disabled spaces and three for electric cars) as well as 96 spaces for cyclists. The EU funds for this project amount to more than PLN 1.5 mln.

The P+R car park in Radzymin be situated on ul. Wiejska, close to the town’s railway station. The EU funding for the building with 59 parking spaces (including two disabled spaces) and 82 spaces for cyclists comes to more than PLN 1.2 mln.

In total, the network municipal car parks being built under the ITI programme includes 60 facilities with more than 5,800 parking spaces. A dozen or so facilities (in Jaktorów, Radzymin, Pruszków and Wołomin, among others) have already been put into operation.
