Satisfying year for Gemini Park Tychy
Retail & leisureAs a result, the mall is now more than 98 pct occupied. Since its opening in March 2018, another 26 brands have been added to the shopping centre’s tenant mix and it now comprises 130 stores and services, 13 of which are food & beverages tenants.
“We are still benefiting from the effects of the successful launch of Gemini Park Tychy. This means that the space in the shopping centre is in constant high demand, from large international players as well as Polish brands. Our performance in 2019 – which we ended with an even richer tenant mix, more negotiations in progress and ambitious development plans – reflected this,” claims Anna Malcharek, the managing director of Gemini Holding.
The year started with the opening of the largest NC + store in Tychy (37 sqm). The end of spring and early summer saw a crop of new brands in the centre. Carry leased a 1,500 sqm unit and rival fashion brand Top Secret opened a 180 sqm store. The interior design range was also expanded – 587 sqm was taken up by a new Konsimo showroom and 195 sqm was occupied by Dla Spania. The summer saw the local debut of the British chain Dealz, which occupied 570 sqm. A Wisieńka na Torcie patisserie also opened as well as an 84 sqm Esotiq lingerie store. The end of summer and early autumn saw the opening of the first wine store in the shopping centre, Fine Wine, and the seventh restaurant, Mihiderki (75 sqm). At the end of October resulted in the opening of a second hand textile retailer Vive Profit in the retail park, occupying more than 1,100 sqm. Early December saw the opening of a 100 sqm Kontigo cosmetics salon. Out of all the 2019 openings, four were local debuts.
“This all contributed to a very successful footfall in 2018 as well as an even better 2019. Last year, the footfall increased by up to 11 pct and turnover by up to 28 pct in the months which we can already compare year-to-year,” adds Anna Malcharek.
Gemini Park Tychy is also to be expanded by around 6,500 sqm, a project which is just entering the planning phase. A new app. 2,500 sqm cinema is to open in the new space as well as food operators and services. The expansion will also result in the enlargement of the current food court and the creation of new play areas. There are also plans for a restaurant that could serve the local economic zone and commuters on the S1 road the mall is located on.
According to Anna Malcharek, negotiations with tenants interested in leasing space in the new section of the shopping centre are already in progress. Gemini Park Tychy has a total area of 36,600 sqm. Its grocery anchor operator is Biedronka. The owner of the centre is Kraków-based developer Gemini Holding.
