BELARUS The Ministry of Economy has put up for sale two existing shopping centres in Brest.

The shopping centres, which are both in good locations, were owned by a local company that has entered administration. This was Brest-based Asstor-West, which was founded by Elena Dubovik. In 2013 the company was on the list of 120 largest retail property owners in Belarus in terms of turnover, but in the wake of the 2014 downturn found itself in financial difficulties. Asstor-West was declared bankrupt in 2018 and its real estate is now being sold off in order to pay off its debts.

One of these is a shopping centre on Masherova near the Brest Fortress. The 16,500 sqm building includes a Dionis supermarket, clothing stores and many other tenants. After an unsuccessful first attempt to sell the property, the starting price in the auction has been reduced to RUB 23.7 mln (around EUR 10 mln). The second, smaller centre, at Moskovskaya 32, comprises 3,200 sqm. The starting price is RUB 3.9 mln (around EUR 1.65 mln). Both auctions are to be held on January 28th.
