Tomek graduated from the faculty of modern languages at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, where he also started his journalist career in the late 1980s. He has worked in the real estate press since 2005, covering the residential market for ‘Eurobuild CEE’ magazine as well as the new technologies and property management sectors. Sometimes he can be heard on Polish Radio 2, where he reviews the press on the morning programme. At other times he can be seen in the Bieszczady or Beskid Niski mountains, where he enjoys rambling with no fixed purpose or destination in mind.

Russia's largest school is now open
RUSSIA The largest school in Russia with places for 2,500 pupils has opened, but not in time for the beginning of the school year in September.

The school is part of the Zilart mixed-use complex in the south of Moscow built on the site of the Zil lorry factory. The 40,000 sqm educational complex was designed as a European-style campus. The centre also offers a number of extracurricular lessons in the arts, , IT, medicine, engineering and biochemistry. The centre includes an auditorium with seating for 1,100 people, two ballet halls, two gyms and a fitness room as well as a large, 1,000 sqm sports hall. The school’s two libraries have almost 120,000 books and include a conference facilities, a reading room for 220 people and a multimedia library. Each of 2,500 pupils has their own locker. A school canteen is also to be built which will eventually serve 22,000 meals a day. The entire complex has CCTV surveillance and its own security service.
