Four stars in the heart of Katowice

Opr./edited AZ 12 February 2020
Four stars in the heart of Katowice
The Puro hotel will be situated between the main train station and the International Congress Centre

POLAND Construction work is underway on the Puro Hotel at al. Korfantego 10 in Katowice.

The opening of the hotel has been scheduled for Q1 2022. Konior Studio is responsible for the architectural design of the building. The hotel is under construction on a plot near the Rondo Ziętka roundabout between the city’s main railway station and the MCK International Congress Centre. Hotel Inwest, which has worked with Puro since the chain was established in Poland, has been appointed project manager.

The four-star hotel will have 247 rooms, a restaurant and conference rooms. A bar with a view of the city will be located on the top floor and will be connected by stairs to a roof garden. It will feature Puro’s latest Prisma spa concept. It will also contain exhibition space for local artists. Part of the building, visible from al. Korfantego, will have 14 floors and will be 56m in height, while the west wing will have a two-storey pedestal in line with the height of the adjacent BWA art gallery.

The interiors are to be designed by London-based design studio De Salles Flint, which the chain has already cooperated with on several projects, including a hotel that opened last year in Warsaw. The decor will be based on raw materials, such as concrete, brick, wood and steel, to give the rooms an industrial character. The common space is to be fitted with high-quality furniture as well as works by artists and craftsmen.

“This is the eighth development of our chain in Poland. We are particularly proud of this project, not only because of its location but also its architectural qualities. This is the perfect address for a hotel project in Katowice. You can reach Puro by car, or it’s a short walk from the station and the ICC. The design is by the studio headed by Tomasz Konior, who knows the local conditions of Katowice city centre well and understood the essence of this location and its special role in the context of city centre development from the outset,” claims Przemysław Wieczorek, a board member and the investment director of Puro, which is part of Norwegian real estate group Genfer.
