Romania is Poland's largest competitor in the BPO sector

Mikołaj Sznajder, associate director, Office Agency, Cushman & Wakefield said that Poland is still ranked highly in reports as a location for investors to set up business service centres. "But when we take into consideration the price of such operations, Poland is starting to fall in rankings," he added.
"Romania seems to be the main competition for Poland. Around 50,000 people are employed in the BPO sector there. And all the time the number is rising," said Mikołaj Sznajder. "What we have to do now, is to pay attention to the quality. We have to attract investors who want to open service centres for complex business processes. Opening research & development centres has become increasingly popular in Poland," explaines associate director at C&W. "Tenants will need office space. According to the simplest analysis, assuming the need for 6 sqm per person, 600,000 sqm will be needed in Poland by 2020," he added. According to C&W, Poland is still the unquestioned leader in the shared services sector in the CEE region. Out of 350,000 employees in the sector hired in the region, 150,000 work in Poland. That is, 500 centres have been opened and are still functioning now in Poland.
