POLAND The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure has announced the start of the construction of more sections through Lubelskie and Podkarpackie provinces of the Via Carpathia route – the transnational highway scheme to connect Klaipėda in Lithuania with Thessaloniki in Greece.
Mota Engil Central Europe has been chosen as the contractor for the Janów Lubelski bypass and is now carrying out the earthwork. The PLN 148.5 mln contract, which should be completed in 2021, is for the construction of a dual carriageway expressway. For the next section, up to the Lasy Janowskie interchange, Strabag is now preparing the area after trees felling..Work is also in progress on the third section between the Kraśnik Południe interchange and the start of the Janów Lubelski bypass.
