E-commerce irretrievably changes current distribution models and warehousing needs. It forces suppliers to use faster courier deliveries (60 min, 90 min and weekend deliveries) which are the key factor in terms of finalizing online transactions. It generates new technological solutions (3D print instead of warehousing, click-and-collect as well as showrooms instead of traditional shops). Online sales become more and more competitive every year so large chains try to become independent of large courier companies’ fixed rates through e.g. own large-format distribution centres. Meanwhile small sellers opt for dropshipping or use brokerage services in order to lower delivery costs. How will all this influence the warehouse market?
