It’s that time again...

Editorial
The end of the year always puts me into rather a nostalgic mood. On New Year’s Eve I not only think about my plans for the next year but I take a look back for a moment, because, after all, the experiences we have had can motivate us to take our next steps.

And what about you? Do you also review the last year with the help of some bubbly? Or can you not wait to enact your New Year’s resolutions? For the Eurobuild team the time for summarising the last year is the Eurobuild Awards Gala in December, as this involves giving recognition to the most deserving companies, projects and most of all the people who have stood out over the last year. The winners in almost all categories (apart from the identity of the Personality of the Year, who we will choose during the Gala itself on December 6th from three candidates: Robert Dobrzycki, Hadley Dean and Dariusz Miłek), are revealed on the pages of this magazine (in the article, ‘Feeling Happier than Ever’). But for a more in-depth report of the ceremony you will have to wait for the New Year. In addition to this, our Annual Property Market Convention took place at the end of November, which also prompted us to look back at the last year, but most of all to forecast what lies in store in the next. We are currently on a wave and will be riding it for about a year or two – this is a short summary of the speech given by Andrzej Olechowski, who was a special guest at the event. More of the politician’s opinions can be found in the interview entitled ‘Don’t Forget the Debt!’. And when will the real estate market stop booming, according to an expert from outside Poland (Chris Bell, the Europe managing director at Knight Frank in the ‘In a 3 pct World’ interview)? This is what he says: we have been wondering when it would finish for the last two years or so... but I think the real question is, why should the cycle finish? So instead of worrying about it, let’s enjoy riding this the wave and go on a mad present buying spree, since Christmas is on its way, after all. Are you buying them online? Perhaps from one of the largest Polish e-commerce businesses in our part of Europe – www.eobuwie.pl? Regardless of the answer, it’s still worth reading the interview with its founder, Marcin Grzymkowski (‘Walking in New Shoes’) to find out some of the latest trends on the retail market. And to summarise this editorial, I wish you all the best in the New Year – and to put you in the mood I recommend our photo feature: ‘Painting You a Very Merry Christmas!’.
