Volleyball for a good cause

As in each of the last ten years, the event was all about both raising money for a very good cause and taking part in a very well organised and exciting contest. There was sweat and gritty determination from the players and some rather moderate support from the crowd gathered at the venue of the event, La Playa Music Bar in Warsaw, to have a drink, watch the games and dance at the after-party. This year the event was raising money for Na Ratunek Dzieciom z Chorobą Nowotworową [The Help the Children with Cancer Foundation]. This money will go towards buying equipment for the patients of the Przylądek Nadziei [Cape of Hope] cancer treatment clinic in Wrocław. In total, 60 teams, 420 contestants and 2,500 guests took part in the tournament. A team put together by MLP Group came out as the winners, with Panattoni Europe as runners-up and JLL Poland in third place. The final game was particularly intresting with MLP edging Panattoni in the final points of the match. “The staggering amount of almost PLN 1.18 mln raised for the Foundation is the largest single sum raised in the charity’s 28-year history. This will enable the latest generation of innovative cellular therapy devices to be purchased for Cape of Hope’s clinic in Wrocław. In addition to this, scientific research and early cancer prevention programmes for children will also be funded. Thanks to the involvement of JLL and the largest companies in the real estate sector, the Foundation will be able to provide realistic help in saving hundreds of children both now and in the future,” commented Przemek Pohrybieniuk, the president of The Help the Children with Cancer Foundation. The sponsors of the 10th Charity Real Estate Beach Volleyball Tournament included La Playa, BerlinHyp, GoArt, 7R, Grasp, Hotel Marina Nawigator, House of Tudor, Medicover, Winnica L’Opera, Pomarańczowa Ciuchcia, Top Event, Stewart Title and Zoni. “I would like to thank all of the competitors, sponsors and donors for their commitment and generosity, and Panattoni Europe and Globalworth Poland, which have once again supported us in such a great way. It’s unbelievable how much business and companies that compete with each other on a daily basis can work together for the noble cause of helping children impacted by cancer,” added Tomasz Trzósło, the Poland and CEE managing director of JLL.
