Talent sought for retail projects

The past four years have not been the best time for retail players in Poland. Since 2012, the vast majority of the retail activity has been on the transactional side. Very few new large schemes have been developed during that time, and the market representatives, even in 2013, agreed that with over 9.38 mln sqm of retail space in Poland, the market was nearing saturation point. Fast forward to today, 2015. According to DTZ over the next two years (2015/2016), 60 new shopping centres with 900,000 sqm of space in total are to be delivered to the Polish market. JLL have reported that in Q1 2015 a total of 94,000 sqm of new extensions have been completed. The quiet time for the retail market seems to be at an end, thus resulting in an increased demand for experts in this area. The main areas of personnel requirements include: market research specialists, land transactions specialists, development directors, project managers, retail leasing managers, property managers, asset managers. There are new job openings being announced frequently, as developers and agencies begin to compete for the best talent. There is no doubt that the retail market, not that long ago judged as too saturated to expand, is reborn before our eyes, like a phoenix from the ashes. And this happens both in major cities and in the regions.
