Is the autumn a good time to change jobs?
The job market in the real estate and construction sector has seen a big boom since the beginning of the year. However, the summer is not good a good time for recruitment since there are significantly fewer candidates and company representatives. For many years, the summer holiday period has been a time of a slowdown for various specialisations within the HR industry. But this year there’s been a higher number of people changing jobs, which can be seen in a large number of status changes on LinkedIn and on other online media. This mostly results from a rise in vacant positions in companies resulting from their expansion and we have to take into consideration the fact that a lot of real estate and construction companies in Poland are no longer start ups but companies with mature structures operating on the mature Polish market. However, we can expect a real boom in autumn this year. Firstly this results from the fact that a lot of companies are currently in preparing new projects so they need more manpower. Secondly, the holiday period will have finished, everyone will have settled back into their offices and started working, including HR departments and CEOs who are also frequently responsible for recruitment for their organisations. Some will also come to the conclusion that autumn is a good time to change job.
Market trends and various company statements indicate that most of the open vacancies will be in the office, warehouse, production and residential sectors, which have been breaking records month after month. There will be slightly fewer new positions in the retail and hotel sectors. General contractors are continue to develop rapidly but you should not forget about seasonality. Most of such projects are carried out between the spring and the autumn. Supply in the property & facility management sectors is not expected to change much and the emergence of new players on the consulting market, such as Cresa and Apleona GVA, augurs some new positions and job change opportunities for people from this field.
