Two offers for zoo development

Public buildings
POLAND The Zoological Garden in Łódź has received two offers that fall within its cost estimate in its tender to build a so-called Orientarium.

Intersystem has offered to build the centre that will house exotic Asian animals for PLN 314 mln gross, while Mosty Łódź has offered to do the work for PLN 224 mln. The final evaluation of the offers will include an examination of each company’s experience and staff with the final contract being signed with the chosen contractor possibly by October. This would mean that the facility could be completed by mid-2017. The project will take up half of the current area of the zoo with pavilions, pens and aviaries to occupy an area in excess of 10 full-size football stadiums. Recreational and catering facilities with an area of app. 20,000 sqm are also to be developed. The new complex will exhibit elephants, sharks, orangutans and sun bears over an area of 7.5 ha. The project could be completed in 2019.
