Active Village with Gravitacja
Architecture and urban planningDominika Kasieczko, who collected the PLN 15,000 award on behalf of the studio, has revealed that the studio will now enter into negotiations with the developer. The design was chosen for being of the right scale, its functionality, environmental sensitivity, the utilisation of existing natural resources, the subtlety of the architecture and the innovative conceptual approach – all of which is focused on promoting active relaxation.
“We will start the negotiations in December. We want to obtain a building permit in June and market the project in January,” explains Jacek Twardowski, the managing director at Kristensen Group.
Nine designs took part in the competition (a closed formula). The entries were submitted by (in alphabetical order): Arcada of Jelenia Góra, Gravitacja of Zakopane, JSK Architekci of Wrocław, Magdalena Pawlak of Warsaw, Pracownia Architektury Dom of Jelenia Góra, SK-Architekci of Jelenia Góra, Studio Projekt of Cieszyn, WXCA of Warsaw and ZEW of Warsaw. The entries were evaluated anonymously. Developer’s representatives got to know the authors of the designs only during the award ceremony. The competition jury consisted of Zbigniew Reszka of Arch Deco, Waldemar Więckowski of Atelier Architektury, Marek Wielgo, Jacek Twardowski and Wojciech Baran. “We were looking for a design that would uncover the soul of a beautiful but problematic plot on ul. Partyzantów. Gravitacja’s concept conserves the natural vegetation of the mountain pasture and the exposed rocks on it,” explains Jacek Twardowski, the managing director of Kristensen Group.
“The winning entry impressed us with the layout of an estate where stunning mountain views can be seen from your living room. Furthermore, the architecture does not negatively impact the natural scenery,” claims Zbigniew Reszka, the president of Arch Deco.
The competition jury also awarded the WXCA architectural studio of Warsaw, which was represented by Marta Sękulska-Wrońska, with the PLN 5,000 second prize for the concept of a small estate that also integrates well with its surroundings. The third prize and PLN 2,000 went to Wojciech Drajewicz of Jelenia Góra studio Arcada for its unique conformity with the local zoning plan at the stage of the concept presentation. Internet users were also able to vote for their favourite and it turned out to be the design presented by Magdalena Pawlak of Warsaw (the concept received 286 valid votes out of a total of 1,010 cast). The project is to be developed in two or three stages and the completion of the first stage is scheduled for Q1 2019. App. 120 luxury apartments are to be built on the plot, at a height of 800m above sea level. The cost of the enterprise is estimated at PLN 35 mln. The estate on ul. Partyzantów will be Kristensen Group’s third project in Karpacz.
