Three centres to help the elderly

22 August 2017

POLAND The Polish Institute of Silver Economy is to establish three centres in the Pieniny Mountains with EU funds from the Regional Operational Programme for the Małopolska Province.

The Polish Institute of Silver Economy has started its ‘Pieniny Mountains Day Care Centres’ project. The project results from the collaboration of the Institute with the local authorities of Czorsztyn, Łapsze Niżne and Szczawnica. “Day care centres for the elderly are an excellent solution for an elderly person who should no longer stay alone at home all day but who does not need to be hospitalised or need round the clock care. They can still live at home but they need help and, also importantly, company. It is also very important that our project also provides specific help for carers. I have to admit that I’m really very happy that we’ll be able to show what model support for the elderly should look like in practice. Our team has acquired its knowledge from many countries and most importantly our project shows respect to the needs of the local community and not just the needs of the elderly and their families,” says Marzena Rudnicka, the president of the Polish Institute of Sliver Economy.
