Topping-off with airport view
ESTONIA The topping-off ceremony of a 45m office tower at Lõõtsa 12 on the Ülemiste City campus in Tallinn has been held.

The Liwentaal office building under development by Technopolis Ülemiste at Lõõtsa 12 is the tallest building permitted in the neighbourhood of the airport and has views of both the airport and lake Ülemiste. The work will be completed in the first half of 2018.

According to Gert Jostov, the CEO of Technopolis Ülemiste, the market for office space in Tallinn remains active. An estimated 100,000 sqm of new office premises will be completed in the city in 2017 and 2018. “The trend is to gradually replace older rental premises with new ones,” he added. “New office buildings are also considerably more energy efficient. A new office is also like a breath of fresh air and moving seems a very reasonable decision for many companies,” he added.

“The office building named after the aviator Alexandre Liwentaal has reached its full height and we can already tell what it is going to look like inside and how the people who will be working here will enjoy views that are like little flights,” said Erkki Suurorg, a board member of general contractor Nordecon.

The building is intended to be LEED certified with a rating of ‘Gold’.

Ülemiste City stands on the site of the former Dvigatel factory. More than 300 companies operate in the district at present and around 8,000 people have found jobs there. Technopolis Ülemiste is owned by Technopolis with a 51 pct stake and Mainor Ülemiste with 49 pct.
