Orbis enters Slovenian market

04 October 2017

SLOVENIA The Orbis hotel group has entered Slovenia by signing franchise agreements with Terme Maribor, which is to renovate two of its hotels in Maribor so that they meet the requirements of the Mercure and Ibis Styles brands.
The 76-room Hotel Piramida will join the Mercure chain and the 71-room Hotel Orel will be rebranded as part of the Ibis Styles chain with the changes to be completed by the beginning of 2018.
“Orbis is the leading hotel operator in Eastern Europe. We have been continuously extending our chain of hotels that operate under AccorHotels brands. Currently it numbers 120 hotels, mostly due to partnerships with strong investors. “Slovenia is our twelfth market of operations. The opening of the Mercure and ibis Styles hotels, well known and respected international brands in Slovenia, confirms our strategy for fast growth,” remarked Ireneusz Węglowski, the vice-president of the board at Orbis. “The signing of two franchise agreements marks a new direction in the development of Terme Maribor, with a strategic focus on hotels in the city centre as well as at the foot of the Pohorjee. This year was extremely successful for us, confirming that our market goals and vision are right. Working with a renowned international hotel group will provide us with the opportunity to benefit from its know-how and improve our services,” says Andrej Rakovič, a director of Terme Maribor.
