POLAND/CZECH REPUBLIC Construction company P.A. Nova is preparing for the construction of three retail parks: in Jaworzno, Sosnowiec and Kłodzko, which will have a total area of 9,000 sqm. It also has plans to construct more residential buildings and a hotel. In the Czech Republic the company is to redevelop and modernise properties owned by the Globus retail chain.

The retail park in Sosnowiec will be located on a 0.8 ha plot next to an existing retail park and a Kaufland hypermarket. This new retail park will have an area of 2,000 sqm. The company will also be extending a complex near the Galeria Galena shopping centre in Jaworzno, where it plans to add a 4,000 sqm retail park. Meanwhile, in Kłodzko P.A. Nova is preparing to develop a 3,000 sqm retail park. All the above-mentioned projects are to be carried out in 2018.

Ewa Bobkowska, at the CEO of P.A. Nova, emphasises that there has been much interest in the locations from potential tenants. “I have not ruled out selling one of our malls next year, but cannot yet disclose any more details about this,” she says.

The company, which was the general contractor of the Ikea store in Lublin, is also in the bidding for a contract to build another Ikea, this time in Zabrze.

A hotel offering 80 rooms will also to be built adjacent to Galeria Galena. The company is in negotiations over the terms of the contract with a hotel chain that is interested in opening a two-star budget hotel in the building.

In 2018 the company is to build a residential building in Krosno with 40 apartments and a useable and residential area of 2,100 sqm. The company will also be constructing four residential buildings in Przemyśl (a total of 100 apartments) and 40 apartments in Sanok.

P.A. Nova has recently entered foreign markets and now operates in Germany, where it is building apartments (in Bad Staffelstein) as well as extending and modernising production and warehouse halls in Malsfeld for the Dr Schumacher company. The company has also been contracted by German DIY chain Globus to transforming one of its stores in Brno into a shopping centre, as well as for the modernisation of two other buildings owned by the chain.

In H1 2017 P.A. Nova generated sales revenue of PLN 105.5 mln, up from PLN 71.8 mln in the same period of 2016. Its EBITDA amounted to PLN 25.3 mln (PLN 26.2 mln in H1 2016). Its EBIT profit was slightly down y-o-y at PLN 24.3 mln from PLN 25.2 mln. Its net profit rose slightly, from PLN 14.7 mln to PLN 15.2 mln.
