More beds for sports fans in Minsk
Accor will soon be opening a hotel on Zybitska street
BELARUS Minsk has begun extensive preparations for the European Games, which are to take place in the Belarusian capital in summer 2019.
Five new hotels are to open in the city with a total of 764 rooms and 1,340 beds. Three of the hotels will start welcoming guests at the end of 2017 or early 2018 – one of these (on Zybitska street in the Old Town) will open under an Accor group brand. A governmental memorandum is to come into force in Belarus on the first day of January 2019, freezing accommodation prices in Minsk prohibiting increases of more than 10 pct during that year. The Belarusian ministry of sport and tourism estimates that the average daily price of a room including breakfast will come to app. USD 38 during the European Games, which will take place between June 14th and 30th 2019. The city currently has 50 hotels, seven hostels and twelve other accommodation facilities offering 6,200 rooms and 11,400 beds.
