CEE REGION Polish chain Focus Hotels has opened a sales office in Bucharest. The office will be responsible for the expansion of the chain in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Łukasz Płoszyński, the vice-chairman of the board of the chain, has revealed that Focus Hotels’ first few opening abroad are likely to be in Bucharest. The strategic goal of the Focus chain is to add two to four new hotels each year. The first half of 2017 saw in the company’s highest level of activity in this respect – three leases have been signed for new locations and it has taken over the operations of an existing hotel. In its financial report for this period, which was published by parent company Immobile Capital Group, it was stated that company is still interested in the largest cities in Poland, Warsaw, Wrocław and Kraków, as well as smaller cities with over 100,000 residents, such as Rzeszów and Toruń. At the same time it is aiming to expand the company outside the country – onto the Romanian, Hungarian, Slovakian and Czech markets.

“The most important goal of the chain for the next few months and years is the acquisition of hotels in Kraków and Wrocław, expanding beyond Polish borders and a stock exchange listing,” says Łukasz Płoszyński of Focus Hotels.

This year the historic Pod Orłem hotel in Bydgoszcz has been added to the chain, which was built in the early 19th century. In February the company signed a contract for the lease of a four-star hotel in the centre of Lublin, which is now due to open in October 2018. It will be operated under the Premium brand and is to comprise 75 rooms and a 400 sqm conference area. In April 2017 the management of the company also signed a lease for a four-star hotel on ul. Woronicza in Warsaw’s Mokotów district. This project should be ready in 2020. Another location acquired this year is a hotel on ul. Serafitek, next to Kurpińskiego Park in Poznań. Focus Hotel Poznań will be a three-star hotel with 94 rooms, including some of a premium standard. The opening of the hotel has been set for Q2 2018.

Focus Hotels is a chain of business hotels in Poland that currently includes hotels in Gdańsk, Łódź, Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Chorzów and Inowrocław.
