No more barriers in Warsaw

POLAND The Integration foundation and the city of Warsaw have chosen the winners of the ‘Warsaw Project without Barriers’ competition.

The competition is part of the ‘Warsaw without Barriers’ project, which promotes access for the disabled. Three competitions were held (‘Application without Barriers’, ‘WWW without Barriers’ and ‘Warsaw Project without Barriers’) The winner of the ‘Local Authority’ category in the ‘Warsaw Project without Barriers’ competition is the district of Wilanów for improving access to the authority’s building ‘ particularly taking into account the needs of the disabled’, the winner in the ‘Historic Centre’ category is the University of Warsaw for improving access to the Lecture Hall Building, the winner in the ‘Residential/Office/Retail Facility’ category was Orange Polska and Miasteczko Orange for ‘their professional approach and openness to people with disabilities’. The jury also awarded an honourable mention to the Museum of Warsaw for the museum buildings. The jury included representatives of various institutions and organisations such as the faculty of architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw, the Friends of Integration Association, the city of Warsaw as well as Ewa Andrzejewska, the editor-in-chief of the ‘Eurobuild Central & Eastern Europe’ magazine.
