Built on top of a hotel
The hotel will be topped by a traditional 18th century Alsace home
EUROPE The mayor of Metz Dominique Gros, Philippe Starck and Hilton are to develop the Maison Heler Metz hotel, which will be part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. The 14-storey hotel will be created in a EUR 22.5 mln investment led by Yvon Gérard and a consortium of investors.

The hotel will stand in the Quartier de l'Amphithéâtre district and is to be designed from the ground up by the French designer Philippe Starck. He has imagined this extraordinary construction that is reminiscent of the Centre Pompidou Metz. The building will have a monolithic and monochromatic design and will be topped by a traditional 18th century Alsace home. The house will sit on top of the building where there will be a rooftop terrace offering breath-taking views over the entire city and a garden, planted with local trees. In the house there will be a cosy and restaurant and lounge bar with an artistic atmosphere. The 119 guest rooms and suites are comfortable and elegant, and complemented by the hotel ’s modern facilities including a fitness centre and meeting rooms.

“This project has off-the-scale phantasmagoric architectural design,” said Philippe Starck. “It's a game of uprooted roots, a symbolic construction of the Lorraine region,” he added.

Yvon Gerard is the co-founder of the Maison Heler company and leader of the project.

“Maison Heler Metz is a unique property, the design of which perfectly captures the spirit of our handpicked Curio Collection by Hilton hotels. This will be Metz’s first high-end hotel opening in a number of years, and an impressive addition to our portfolio in France, which continues to be the most visited country in the world,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton.

Curio Collection by Hilton is made up of nearly 50 hotels. Maison Heler Metz will join more than 20 Curio Collection by Hilton hotels, which are either trading or under construction across Europe.
