Lublin approves bus station design

Eurobuild CEE 14 May 2018
Lublin approves bus station design
The project is an investment of around PLN 190 mln
POLAND A concept has been chosen by Lublin city council for a new municipal bus station in the city centre together with accompanying infrastructure.
After consultations with residents, the final version was the combination of two concepts, which we revealed in December 2017. The entire pl. Dworcowy will be turned into a pedestrian zone and the station building itself will be constructed together with a new road layout. The new bus station will be designed to serve town and municipal transport as well as long-distance buses. It will consist of 43 platforms. An underground car park is also to be built for 224 vehicles and eight taxis.

Existing streets are to be rebuilt and new ones added. Ul. Młyńska, ul. Gazowa, ul. Krochmalna, ul. Dworcowa, ul. 1 Maja and ul. Pocztowa are to be resurfaced and given new pavements, cycle paths and greenery. Pl. Dworcowy will also be given a new look, becoming an ornamental promenade integrated with the main entrance of the city’s main railway station following the complete removal of road traffic. The new road layout will improve the traffic and transport links between it, the train station and the very centre of Lublin, including the exhibition grounds of the Lublin Fair.

“This is another key project for the aesthetic development of the Lublin area. This run-down area will be given a completely new appearance, which I hope that it will meet the expectations of local residents in terms of its functionality and aesthetics. It should also be borne in mind that this is an investment for the whole region, perfectly in line with the metropolitan character of Lublin as its capital,” declared Krzysztof Żuk, the mayor of Lublin. The entire project is expected to cost app. PLN 190 mln (including PLN 135 mln of EU subsidies) and should be ready by the end of 2022.
