130 ha of railway land for apartments

Eurobuild CEE 05 June 2018
POLAND The Polish State Railways (PKP) and BGK Nieruchomości (BGKN) have signed conditional investment agreements related to twelve locations totalling more than 130 ha in Gdańsk, Katowice, Lublin, Poznań, Przemyśl, Szczecin, Warsaw and Wrocław.

These include locations designated for new residential development – such as the sites in Odolany in Warsaw, Wolne Tory in Poznań and an area close to the Świebodzice railway station in Wrocław. The apartments planned for this land are to be included in the government’s Apartment Plus scheme.

The agreements pave the way for the joint implementation of projects through special purpose vehicles, to which PKP will contribute the real estate and BGKN the required financing. According to the agreements, the real estate contributions from PKP should be made by the end of 2018. Legal, financial, technical, commercial and tax analyses of the sites should have been carried out by then.

“By the end of 2019 we want to have 100,000 affordable apartments under preparation under the Apartment Plus programme. Our cooperation with PKP allows us to gradually achieve this goal. I hope that the urban planning and architectural competitions will soon be launched for these sites,” announced Tomasz Górnicki, a board member of BGKN.
