Ibis Styles Tomaszów Lubelski on its way
The Mateusz Tański & Associates studio is responsible for the hotel's architectural design
POLAND Construction work has started on an Ibis Styles hotel in Tomaszów Lubelski. The hotel is to be located in the former Laureat hotel – the first hotel in the town – at ul. Lwowska 32, which was built in 1984–1988.

After the city took over the building in the 1990s, the hotel prospered thanks to guests from beyond the eastern border. However, it eventually started making a loss and, due to a lack of funds for reinvestment, fell below the expected standards of tourists. Therefore, in September 2016 Laureat was bought by Tomaszów-based company B4 Bartecki, which has carried out an extensive refurbishment of the property. The Mateusz Tański & Associates studio is responsible for the new architectural design.

“Bright interiors, large glazing and excellent acoustics will be the distinguishing features of the renovated building. Among the new and highly characteristic elements should be the fully glazed restaurant and a roof terrace with a panoramic view of the local area,” explains architect Mateusz Tański.

The investor has entered into a franchise agreement with the Orbis group and the hotel, after its reconstruction, will operate under the Ibis Styles brand and will be included in the international Orbis/AccorHotels group. The hotel is to undergo extensive renovations both outdoors and indoors. Following its redevelopment, the hotel will comprise 51 rooms, a 200 sqm restaurant, a playroom and a large green roof terrace with a view of the town’s skyline. It will also have a large conference room with modern multimedia facilities. Around 600 sqm of the ground floor of the building has been earmarked for retail and services.
