Mercure to open in Timișoara

ROMANIA AccorHotels will open the Mercure Timișoara in Q2 2019, its first hotel in Timișoara.

Orbis Hotel Group, which is the strategic partner of AccorHotels in Central and Eastern Europe, signed a franchise agreement with local partner and investor, S.C. Paneracons I&I.

The newly built hotel will have 60 rooms in the centre of Timișoara. The building is to be BREEAM certified with an intended rating of ‘Outstanding’.

“We are proud and confident that finally our company’s dream project has become reality, during a period a such great opportunity for the hospitality business in Timișoara,” said Ionut Iakab, CEO of Panera.

“Timișoara has a lot of tourist potential as well as for leisure and business, and investing in high quality hotels such as Mercure will help to increase its tourism revenue. Garanti Bank is actively financing such investments that contribute to the development of Romania’s economy,” stated Bilge Demirer, executive director, SME & Commercial Banking, Garanti Bank.

“As part of the Orbis strategy, we are further strengthening our leading position in Romania by rapidly expanding the number of hotels under AccorHotels’ brands not only in the capital, but also in key regional cities such as Timișoara. With the opening of Mercure Timișoara, in partnership with S.C. Paneracons I&I, we are further developing our hotel portfolio across the country. Currently we have eleven existing hotels from the upscale to the economy segments, and already have six hotels in the pipeline for the years to come,” commented Gilles Clavie, the president & CEO of Orbis.
