Tomek graduated from the faculty of modern languages at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, where he also started his journalist career in the late 1980s. He has worked in the real estate press since 2005, covering the residential market for ‘Eurobuild CEE’ magazine as well as the new technologies and property management sectors. Sometimes he can be heard on Polish Radio 2, where he reviews the press on the morning programme. At other times he can be seen in the Bieszczady or Beskid Niski mountains, where he enjoys rambling with no fixed purpose or destination in mind.

POLAND The 9th Eurobuild Office Market for Poland Conference is now behind us, but it will be remembered by participants and organisers as one of the most innovative events so far. Along with featuring the first ‘investor vs. tenant’ session and the first ‘100 questions to... a market personality’ section, we broadcast part of the conference on our YouTube channel for the first time.

The participants of the final discussion panel, moderated by Dorota Osiecka of Colliers International, debated the arrangement of office interiors, which now need to meet the requirements of several generations of employees.

“It isn’t really possible to design offices for use many years into the future and – to be honest – we are not particularly interested in doing that,” agreed the panellists, but in a rather tongue in cheek way. An office building has a life cycle of only a few years, after which it is necessary to at least extensively re-arrange its interiors in order to keep up with the latest trends, requirements and technological systems.

“Clients are very demanding these days, so we have to adjust what we offer to their needs. The inquiries we get from potential customers contain a lot of detailed questions about the standard of the building and its equipment. The record so far was one that went to 900 pages and it took us a few days to prepare the answers,” commented Monika Rogucka of Cavatina.

The final part of the conference was the workshop session, which started after lunch, involving two seminars. The first of these, led by specialists from Business Link, was devoted to an analysis of the needs of co-working companies (this was broadcast live our Eurobuild TV YouTube channel). The second workshop, on trends in office design, was led by Bartosz Trzop of the Trzop Architekci studio. It’s worth noting that both rooms used for the workshops were packed with those taking part in them.
