The extension will add 30,000 sqm to the mall bringing its total area up to over 100,000 sqm and increasing the number of tenants from 170 to 250. Additionally a multi-storey car park is being built with spaces for a further 500 vehicles.
“For builders, a topping off ceremony is one of the most important reference points during the construction of a building. It is the moment, when we can say with satisfaction that a very significant amount of work has been done, the building’s structural frame has been built, and we can already see the full scale of the building,” says Oskars Ozoliņš, the chairman of the management board of Merks. “A big thank you to the Merks team, under the leadership of project manager Roberts Rēboks, and to all our business partners for their work on this building, which was anything but simple. The expansion of Alfa is taking place on schedule and by this summer, all the inconvenience that this building work is causing visitors will have been replaced in full by the convenience of the new extension, the car park and the improved infrastructure around the shopping centre.”
chairman of the board Frode Grønvold of Linstow Center Management : “We’re very proud of the work done to date. The builders, building supervisors and designers have done a truly outstanding job, and I’m delighted that today we can enjoy the topping off of Alfa’s spacious new extension. This extension adds another 30,000 sqm for our visitors, including the new car park. And gives us the opportunity to offer an even wider range of brands and entertainment as well as new surprises. And yes, we will be proud when we strengthen Alfa’s position as the leading shopping centre in Latvia.”
The Alfa extension also includes the creation of a new park. TTDesign, Multi Corporation’s in-house design group, is responsible for the concept of the extension and the design of the interior. SIA Sarma & Norde Arhitekti is responsible for the architecture and the technical execution of the project. Forma 2 will carry out the technical supervision of the extension and renovation, while Merks is responsible for the construction.
