Uber expands in Kraków
The American taxi and deliveries firm will be expanding its operations in Browar Lubicz

POLAND Uber is to invest around PLN 37 mln in its operations in Kraków – PLN 26 mln of which has been earmarked for the further development of its business service centre in the Browar Lubicz complex.

After an initial investment of PLN 40 mln and the employment of 300 people in the centre, which opened in 2016, the American company wants to employ another 200 people by the end of this year. The centre processes orders made via the Uber app in more than 40 cities in eleven countries.

The company has also announced that this year it plans to invest PLN 11 mln in its R&D centre in Kraków, which is currently developing systems for electric bikes that can be rented by the minute. At the moment, twenty engineers, programmers, electronics engineers and mechanics work in the centre. While the team is working on the bike rental app, it is also designing the latest versions of the electric bikes and scooters.

Uber has also announced that its offices in Warsaw are to be upgraded, to become the headquarters for Uber’s taxi and UberEats services in the CEE region.
