Giant ferris wheel to roll into Moscow
The ferris wheel is to be built on the grounds of the VDNKh exhibition centre
RUSSIA The largest ferris wheel in Europe is to be built in Moscow – the 140m structure will have 30 air-conditioned cabins for up to 450 people.

The Moscow Sun will be built on the grounds of the Vystavka Dostizheniy Narodnogo Khozyaystva (VDNKh) exhibition centre in the city’s Ostankinsky district. The design is by Chapman Taylor studio while Intamin is to be responsible for its mechanical systems. The wheel will spin at a rate of just over three revolutions an hour. A mixed used building is to be developed next to the wheel, which will include a museum and exhibition space as well as a play area for children.

Work on the development of the VDNKh exhibition centre, which is intended to celebrate the economic achievements of Russia, began in 1935 and it now occupies a 520 ha site and includes around 134,000 sqm of exhibition space.
