Changes ahead for construction law

Opr./edited AZ 13 August 2019

POLAND The Polish government has adopted a package of proposed changes to the construction law drawn up by the Ministry of Investment and Development.

The changes are aimed at accelerating the preparation of new projects. Among the proposals are measures for speeding up the connecting of new projects to the electricity, gas, heating, water supply and sewage networks. Specific deadlines are to be set for the companies responsible for connections to such utilities, which if exceeded will result in penalties. There will also be a new procedure for bringing illegal construction projects into the legal framework by ensuring they are safe.

The proposals also contain a clean air programme focused on promoting the connection of all new projects to the municipal heating network where possible, thus requiring changes in the energy law to enforce the connection of suitable buildings to the network.
