Dachser turns it eyes to research

Opr./edited AZ 10 September 2019
EUROPE Dachser is conducting research on the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine learning in supply chain management at its Dachser Enterprise Lab in the town of Kempten in Germany.

The main purpose of the research is to improve data collection from the supply chain and improve communication. Since the beginning of this year, Dachser has developed its electronic data exchange services and has created an Application Programming Interface (API), which allows it customers to to better communicate with an operator in near real time, as well as a new communications platform called Dachser LLP Control Tower. Dachser Enterprise Lab is also working on using smartphone apps and innovative sensors to allow shipment and location data to be shared. The laboratory is also looking at ways to implement Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN), which allows data to be transmitted over long distances with minimum power requirements and is working with other research institutions including the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics and Deutsche Telekom Enterprise Labs as well as the European Pallet Association (Epal). Another area of the laboratory’s research is using machine learning for text and facial recognition
